Thread: Removal of skin...

    Exclamation Removal of skin...

Hi! Some time ago i bought a few skins from you, and today I removed the first one again (it had been on for only 1,5 months or so). But after the removal, the center button on the clickwheel doesn't work anymore! Like the skin "dragged" the button with it, even though the removal was done slow and carefully. I am very confused here now, I really can't use the ipod at all now... Have you had experiences like this before?

    Re: Removal of skin...

Hi aviate, what you're reporting is quite shocking indeed but I suspect that your button might had already been a little damaged or the fault was caused by some other incident. The Skins are sticky enough such that they will not peel off under normal usage, but they're not sticky to the point where they disconnect a button's internal contacts even if you rip the skin off violently.

It's unlikely that the button can even be spoilt in this way technically and we suspect that your button might have already been a little defective if it was working just before the skin was removed. We would advice contacting Apple's support in your country to get a repair done.

    Re: Removal of skin...

Yes i will, but i doubt the button was damaged from before, i've never had problems with it up till now, the exact moment after the removal process. From the feel of it, it seems as the internal parts have moved slightly. But thanks, i'll contact apple

Also, great support on i-styles man! You're very efficient compared to most forums/support i've used in the past!

    Re: Removal of skin...

You're most welcome aviate. Thank you for your understanding in this matter. We've honestly got no idea how the button could have got spoilt other than the possibility that the device had an internal fault or defect. We've lost count of the number of times we've applied and removed skins on various iPods and we never had any problems. It's probably a one time incident due to a device fault as we've sold tens of thousands of skins and never had an incident even remotely similar to what you've experienced.
