iPhone may not be available until the end of June or early July

iPhone release date maybe delay to July

Insiders from apple said that iPhone release date maybe delay to July.

While people like AT&T’s COO and Apple themselves continue to maintain that the iPhone is still on track for June, everyone is still skeptical that something else is probably brewing behind closed doors. After all, Apple told us that Leopard was on track for Spring just a couple weeks before they announced that it was being pushed ’till October, and some sources have told Ars that they were made aware of the October date by Apple long before the rest of the world knew. That information is confirmed once again by a close source this morning, and he has some not-so-great news about that pesky iPhone delay rumor. He Who Shall Not Be Named™ has told us, “Apple knew two months ago that Leopard was going to be delayed since all of the key engineers are now in Taipei.”

Somebody from Foxconn/Hon Hai that “it does not look feasible that Apple will be able to ship units out in May to make the iPhone shipping date in the US (June), so expect units to trickle by end of June or early July.” I’m not a fan of “trickling” myself, although I can’t deny that it wasn’t fully expected—this is Apple we’re talking about here, after all. So what are we talking, in terms of availability? “It is doubtful they will have enough units on hand to meet the demand.”

Insiders said The issue with the iPhone is not the battery, but the software Q/A and OS-related issues.”

I wonder why Apple would postpone the release of Leopard until the fall when it was first announced before the iPhone was even presented at the keynote speech. Apple is usually good with releasing new products onto the market and keep up with the demand but ensuring plenty of product, but being that the iPhone is coinciding with Cingular, then I am do not know how they are going to present this one to the public. As far as Leopard goes, get the damn engineers out of Taipei and back to the US to get this show on the road.

There were rumors initially that Leopard was delayed because manpower resources were allocated from the Leopard team to resolve any outstanding issues with the iPhone as that was a priority. However, it does appear that both Leopard and iPhone are on track for shipment after all as per the update at False alarm: iPhone NOT delayed until October, Leopard NOT delayed again until January - Engadget

Here's the story. A trustworthy source supplied us with an actual internal Apple email that went out to thousands of Apple employees earlier today (published after the break). The fact that this was an email sent within Apple's internal email system to its employees is not in question. Let us reiterate: this was an ACTUAL email distributed within Apple's internal email system to Apple employees.

As it turns out, the internal memo Apple employees received was actually retracted by Apple shortly after it was sent out. (Also published after the break.) We received confirmation from Apple PR that this initial email sent out to Apple employees was incorrect, and they let us know that the iPhone and Leopard are both still on track, and should meet their expected launch timeframes.

Presumably Apple is now on the hunt for whomever was able to spoof its internal email system.
