iStyles/5I thought the skins for the dji fpv combo were in gloss finish as what I’ve seen on a youtube video. The drone skins on the video were glossy which made me decide to buy one. Got so excited once placed the order. Once the skins arrived, my excitement turned into dismay only to find out that the skins were just like sticker papers and far from clean, glossy and expensive looking drone wraps. Now I’m very skeptical on installing them on my drone because I might not like how it would turn out once installed whether it would look like a flying paper drone or an upgraded awesome looking one. Thank you for the feedback. We used to have matte and gloss finish options many years back but this was subsequently streamlined to the default matte finish that most people preferred.
While gloss had some fans, people generally went for matte because it felt more premium and makes the design looks better. Gloss, comparatively, is reflective, and makes the design less visible when viewed outdoors. Gloss finishes on a drone is a bad idea as it makes the drone less visible in flight by reflecting the surrounding environment.
Furthermore, the design you selected looks like a spaceship and is more accurate in matte, just like how the space shuttle and fictional space fighter jets look.
As for the thickness; in the world of vinyl, thicker vinyl is cheaper. Our Skins are printed in high-resolution and full colour on premium grade adhesive-backed cast vinyl, then sealed with a protective laminate for long-lasting protection.
Cast vinyl is of notably higher quality and cost much more than the usual “thick” calendared vinyl used elsewhere. Unlike calendared vinyl, cast vinyl does not discolour, is much less prone to shrinkage over time, much thinner, can conform better to surface curves, and will last 7-9 years. Thicker vinyl will not go on well on the curved surfaces of the drone.
